July’s HHH project was in support of Calvert Trust Kielder, an outdoor adventure and activity centre in Northumberland enabling people of all ages and abilities to do things they never thought they could. There’s water sports, high ropes, climbing, archery, king swing, swimming, bushcraft, abseiling and of course the zip wire.
On Saturday 8th July, helped by her cousin George and her cuddly best friend Dadda Bear, Hannah took on a nerve wracking challenge. Hannah has ASD and anxiety, and because of this anything new or challenging is extra scary to her. Despite this, she was determined to complete the challenge she had selected for herself and had been building up to for months.
It took a while for her to gather her courage, but then she climbed up Zonk’s Mountain and did the 75m zip over the burn and into the welcoming arms of Mum, Grandma, Grandpa and George. She was very proud of herself, and admitted afterwards that once she got going, it was great fun!
Thank you to Catherine, Kieran and Danielle, and everyone at Calvert Trust Kielder for all your support and help in arranging Hannah’s Zip Wire Challenge. She has raised £190 on her Just Giving page so far, with the contents of her collecting tin to come.
Thank you everyone for your support!
There is a blog post about Hannah’s challenge on the Calvert Trust Kielder blog here.
